There is no one else like you.
Your soul as vast as the sea.
Your lips as sacred as the trees.
Your breath, so subtle. . . I. . . freeze
My heart quivers when it knows it can’t see you.
Hidden in a prison that is impassable; I can only visit you in my dreams.
I provide you the soil from which to grow.
The air for you to breathe.
Sugar that is perfectly sweet.
But I am nothing more than a foundation you’re planted on with your two feet.
On your own you must blossom and grow.
On your own, you must find love for you alone.
On your own, your heart’s already full.
But I promise, I will never let the light in your eyes fade away.
Even long after your hair’s gone gray.
Even at the precipice of doom.
Your light will continue—beaming through.
Dawn will rise once again.
Again it will be…
just me in my head.
